Island high school students Skyer and Jesse visited from Island High School to teach our third graders about recycling.
Fifth grade students are learning about physical changes and chemical changes. They are documenting their experiment with pictures on the iPad. They will then create an iMovie. First graders are learning about the needs of an animal. Today the got to meet Ms. Daly's ball python, Razor. Students learned about how changes in the environment would affect a community of organisms. The fourth graders role played either being a deer or a component of the habitat ( food, water and shelter). First graders are discovering what is inside a seed by dissecting a Lima bean seed and then making a paper model of the seed. They found the seed coat, embryo ( young plant) and cotyledon( food). Second graders are researching various animal life cycles. After the research they are creating a background and the different stages out of construction paper. Next, they will create a paper slide video to share with the class. Students built objects out of Lego's. They estimated the mass in grams then weighed the object using triple beam balances and digital scales. They then took the object apart and weighed all the pieces. The fifth graders discovered the mass of on object is equal to the sum of its parts. The Hawks Science Olympiad Team rocked the STEM Competition at the SSE. Egg Drop and Science Quiz Bowl came in first. Students in third grade scan QR codes to locate information about the animals in the 5 Georgia Habitats. This week is research week. |
